About Urban Impact Recycling
For over 30 years, Urban Impact has been a leader in waste management strategies and solutions. From single pick-up to enterprise-wide recycling, shredding and waste collection services.
Urban Impact’s combined team of over 165 employees and fleet of service collection vehicles provides over 7,500 customers with complete recycling, organics and waste solutions, onsite shredding, and advisory services. In addition, we operate a recycling facility in New Westminster.
Urban Impact has been in the service business since 1989. We have been involved in the materials processing business since 1996. Urban Impact continuously makes capital improvements to our processing and sorting equipment and operates a modern, environmentally friendly fleet of operating vehicles.
Urban Impact began in 1989 as a university project for Founder and CEO Nicole Stefenelli. Nicole founded Urban Impact with the vision and conviction that commercial enterprises such as restaurants and hotels could recycle and divert their waste. Recycling was new and perceived to be an extra effort and expense for a business owner or operator. Nicole’s conviction was that commercial enterprises could cost effectively divert their waste and recycle and the idea for creating Urban Impact began.
Urban Impact’s commitment to sustainable and environmental operations has remained a priority and key part of our Cultural Values. Urban Impact’s documented policies and many operating procedures are steeped in the original vision and purpose of what Urban Impact was and was going to provide for the business community. Sustainability, waste reduction and avoidance are at the core of the vision for the business and are part of Urban Impact’s culture. In 2021, Urban Impact provided $100,000 in kind recycling services to local charities. This culture of social responsibility has inspired productive partnerships with hospital and community foundations, food banks, and well-established local events.
