About Talkback-UK Ltd
At Talkback, we’ve been working for 24 years to provide opportunities for autistic individuals and people with a learning disability. Our goal is to support and empower individuals to experience personal growth, contribute to their local community and live fulfilling lives.

We achieve this by working in person-centred ways and putting the voices of autistic individuals and people with a learning disability at the forefront of everything we do.

Amongst other things, we support people to:

• Take part in activities of their choice including sports, drama, art, cooking, woodwork and gardening
• Learn skills which allow them to become more independent and increase their confidence
• Gain social skills and form positive relationships
• Undertake volunteer work or paid employment
• Share their experiences and ideas, to help change attitudes and improve services

Talkback has its roots in self-advocacy and is all about choice, opportunity and respect for all autistic individuals and people with a learning disability.
The Role of a Project Worker
You can make a real difference to someone’s life whilst embarking on a fulfilling and rewarding career that fits around your schedule.

Our project workers play a vital part in delivering Talkback’s goals for autistic individuals and people with a learning disability. You will be responsible for planning and delivering creative, fun and engaging sessions that enable people to develop their independence. Under your support, individuals will learn new skills, access employment opportunities and build meaningful relationships.

“Seeing members improve in both small ways and larger, is where I take the most pride.”

Your role will involve working in our buildings in High Wycombe and Aylesbury, plus out in the community or in local colleges. Your working week will be varied and stimulating, supporting different groups and individuals and taking part in different types of activities each day.

We embrace staff from different working backgrounds who can use their experience and talents to benefit the lives of autistic individuals and people with a learning disability. If you have the passion and desire, we can provide the training and support so you’re able to succeed in your role.

“My role provides me with an excellent work/life balance, something I didn’t have while working in events. The change of career has proved so successful my wife made a similar change about a year ago (and also loves her role as a Project Worker!)”
Work on Your Terms
At Talkback we are mindful of the fact that people have busy lives and responsibilities outside of work. As such, we offer flexible working arrangements with part-time work available as well as term-time only working. None of our roles involve evening, shift or weekend work.

“Talkback offers me the chance to work in term time, so I can be with my children during their school breaks. I get home from work early enough to take care of my family.”

We listen to our staff and want them to have a say in how things work. We host monthly staff meetings where anyone can ask questions openly or share their thoughts. We also conduct regular staff surveys and ask our staff to give us their ideas for new services or activities for those we support – the more creative, the better! This means when you start a career with Talkback, you can have a real influence over your workplace.
Our Commitments to You
We make the same core commitments to our staff as we do to those our charity supports. We value every person who walks through our door as an individual and we give them the tools they need to flourish.

We will never assume: We understand that everyone has their own way of learning. So, we always look for someone’s potential, because we believe that anything is possible.

We will always listen: We value the person in front of us. So, we always take the time to learn what is important to someone and therefore how best to engage with them.

We will forever explore: We embrace new ideas and always find the right solutions for every person we work with. Because, no matter what, we never give up on someone.

“I have learnt more in my first 4 weeks working at Talkback then I ever have anywhere else. My colleagues have been warm and welcoming and I have been made to feel an important part of the team already!”
